Budgets & Estimating

Excellent outcomes start with accurate project estimates and costs

With more than 50 years of experience, we start our projects with a conceptual budget using historical cost data and subcontractor input. This helps clients clarify design parameters and make choices based on the cost impacts of different methods or materials. As plans finalize, our team collaborates with the client and all members of the project team to develop firm pricing.

The trust established during the budgeting and estimating process provides a foundation for the rest of the project with HBW. Accurate estimates and clear communication about costs and any changes help highlight HBW’s value.

Scheduling

On-time delivery is a product of construction timeline management

We use the Critical Path Method to draft and refine our construction schedules. Working backwards from the delivery date, we set a course and proactively plan for design, procurement, construction, codependencies and even contingencies.

Communication is a big part of keeping jobs moving forward and on time, from confirming lead times with subcontractors and special installers to follow-ups with suppliers and manufacturers we ensure there are no delays and no surprises.

Project Management

We offer a modified construction management approach, which allows our clients to benefit from having a dedicated Construction Manager assigned to their project. Each project team also includes a Team Leader, Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Coordinator, and Project Accountant.

With an entire team dedicated to making sure a project runs smoothly, from the front office to the site itself, our clients trust we are advocating for them, and for quality craftsmanship, at every step of the construction process. As always, communication is key to our client relationships. We use secure mobile technology to enhance and accelerate intra-team communication and updates, and our Project Managers remain the client contact after the job is completed and for any future needs.

Job Site Management

Leadership, logistics, and safety on the job

Job site management starts with a full-time on-site HBW-trained Superintendent whose focus and attention to quality are foundational to safe and secure job sites, on-time delivery, and client satisfaction.

Supported by a team of HBW staff and working in close coordination with the Project Manager, job site management is grounded in continuous coordination and communication. Our processes include daily intra-team communication, contract requirement reviews, on-site inspections and verifications, daily, weekly, and monthly quality reviews, and scope of work adjustments.

Quality Control

Our Quality Control Program was developed to support our dedication to delivering exceptional quality at every execution phase, including construction work that is 100% complete at customer move-in.

As a guardian of HBW’s quality control initiative, the Field Operations Manager conducts weekly field visits to check quality and job safety and to ensure our top-rated professional standards have been met. We also promote continuous improvement through monthly training sessions that address quality, safety, and cleanliness standards and other continuing education opportunities.

Our teams have the tools and processes to complete projects with a zero-punch list. This finely-tuned approach to quality control processes makes a measurable difference with 99% of our clients describing our quality as ‘above average’ or “excellent.’
